Ivy explores diverse subjects through mixed media, rooted in landscape observation and abstraction. She pushes the boundaries of tradition by blending Impressionism, Expressionism, Minimalism, and Classical techniques. Her works are intuitive and spontaneous, sustained by a continuous energy throughout the creative process. Deeply inspired by traditional ink painting, she is drawn to the textures, lines, and forms found in nature, discovering beauty in its intricate details.

Gesture is important in her practice, influenced by Daoist thought. She is particularly interested in exploring the concepts of Qi, emptiness, and fullness in visual representation. Through layered and translucent surfaces, she explores how gesture, strokes, colour, and pauses can carry emotional weight when words are insufficient.
